5 Ways To Disguise a Bad Hair Day

April 5, 2018

You hit snooze on the alarm one to many times and now you barely have time to eat breakfast, much less wash and style your hair. Or the weather is just not cooperating. Here are five quick tips to go from drab to fab!

1. Easy bun-Spritz a little dry shampoo or a volumizing powder in the crown area of the hair. Tease it a little bit to get some height. Gather your hair in a ponytail.

Twist the ponytail, wrap it around the hairtie and secure with another one. If your feeling really ambitious, you can braid it before twisting it around your and securing it with some bobby pins or a hair tie.  If you have shorter layers, either let them fall around your face or pin them back with sparkly clips or bobby pins.

2.Bouncy curls-If you have some velcro rollers, this is a great way to give your hair a little extra oomph. Roll just the crown of your head in the rollers. Mist the hair lightly with some water or a light hold styling spray. You can also curl just the bottom few layers of your hair with a curling iron if you wish. (Be sure to use a heat protectant.  My favorite is Joico's Iron Clad.)  Finish getting ready for the day and pull out the rollers right before you head out the door. Shake out the curls and finish with a light layer of hairspray.

3. Beach waves-Plug in your flat iron and grab a heat protecting spray.  Spray and comb or brush it through. Starting in the front, take a small section of hair next to your face and run the flat iron down the length. Once you reach the end of the lock, manipulate the flat iron like a curling iron and wrap the the lock of hair around the iron away from your face. Release the flat iron and slide the iron out of the hair. Continue doing this all the way around the head. It doesn't have to be perfect, and doesn't have to be all curled the same way. Beachy hair is always a bit messy! Once finished, spray with a texturizing spray and shake the curls out with your fingers. The more you tousle it, the messier it will be. Give it a spray with your favorite finishing spray and head out the door.

4. Side braid-Create a deep side part. Pick up the smaller section and do a quick french or three strand braid right above your ear. Once you get to the hair behind your ear, use a small hair band or bobby pins to tie it off and tuck it back behind your ear. Slip on some pretty earrings, and done.

5. Pretty Pomadour-this one is possibly my favorite, especially if I haven't washed my hair in a few days. Tease up the crown of your hair, using a bit of texture spray. Smooth out the teased part, then push the section forward until you are happy with how it looks. Secure by crisscrossing bobby pins, give a final mist of spray and go. The best part about this look is you can combine it with just about any of the above easy 'dos and change up your looks!

Do you have a go to style that takes you five minutes or less to make you feel pulled together?  If you don't, which one of these are you excited to try? I love hearing from you, so let me know in the comments below! XOXO.
